New member of the CIRCLE-project!

I would like to introduce myself as a new member of the CIRCLE project. My name is Femke and I’m from the Netherlands. I’m an Innovation Management master student at the Eindhoven University of Technology. My personal interest is in the agricultural sector and I was able to add this in my study. In the Netherlands, I live in the rural area and we (my parents and brothers) have a family business related to horticulture (we have the equipment for tillage, harvesting, etc., and we have some land ourselves for (organic) cultivation).

Currently, I live in Trondheim and will start with my master thesis. Here in Norway, I want to collect my data by conducting interviews together with Ruralis. The topic of my thesis is about circular business models in the agri-food sector (e.g. reuse of bioresources). I want to map the transition from a linear business model towards a circular business model from three selected organizations (case studies). Besides, I want to focus on the rebound effect. This means that a circular system may show a greater environmental impact than a system which is not circular. A rebound effect may occur when for instance a product might be recovered and transported back to the producer for remanufacturing. This procedure might use more energy and materials than producing a new product from origin materials.

I’m excited about starting my master thesis in collaboration with the CIRCLE project. Also, I’m very curious about the findings and ideas that will be derived from this research.

Feel free to contact me if you would like to know more about me, my background and/or my master thesis.
